PROGRAMMES OFFERED

Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) Programme

The Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) programme is offered in affiliation with an NUC accredited University. It is a comprehensive university-based professional degree designed to prepare students for advanced nursing practice, leadership, research, and healthcare management. The programme integrates foundational sciences, nursing theory, clinical practice, research, and community health training. Students undergo intensive clinical postings in teaching hospitals, specialist hospitals, and community health facilities. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) degree by the affiliated university and are eligible to sit for the professional licensing examination conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to become Registered Nurses (RN). Duration of the programme is 5 years.

General Nursing Programme

The Basic Nursing Programme prepares students for entry into the nursing profession. The programme provides a strong foundation in nursing theory, biological sciences, and practical clinical skills necessary for patient care. Students participate in clinical rotations in hospitals and community health settings under the supervision of qualified nurse educators and clinical instructors. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to sit for the professional examination of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to qualify as Registered Nurses (RN). Duration of the programme is 3 years.

Basic Midwifery Programme

The Basic Midwifery Programme prepares students to become professional midwives capable of providing comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period. Students receive both theoretical instruction and practical training in maternity units, labour wards, and community health centres. Graduates of the programme are eligible to take the licensing examination of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and qualify as Registered Midwives (RM). Duration of the programme is 3 years.

Public Health Nursing Programme

The Public Health Nursing Programme is a post-basic specialty programme designed for registered nurses who wish to specialize in community and population health. The programme focuses on disease prevention, health promotion, epidemiology, environmental health, and community-based healthcare delivery. Students gain practical experience through community postings, public health agencies, and primary healthcare facilities. Graduates are eligible to sit for the professional certification examination of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and become Registered Public Health Nurses (RPHN). Duration of the programme is 18 months.
